Conceptual understanding is one of the primary goals of mathematics education. However, in learning circle concepts, many students tend to memorize formulas without fully understanding the underlying meanings and relationships among concepts. This condition results in superficial learning and limits students’ ability to apply their knowledge in various problem-solving situations. Therefore, an instructional approach that actively engages students in constructing their own knowledge is needed. This article aims to examine the implementation of constructivist learning oriented toward deep learning to improve students’ understanding of circle concepts. Constructivist learning provides opportunities for students to build knowledge through exploration, discussion, experience, and reflection, while deep learning emphasizes meaningful understanding, conceptual connections, and the application of knowledge in real-life contexts. Through student-centered learning activities, concepts such as radius, diameter, circumference, area, and the relationships among circle elements are explored through investigative and contextual tasks, making learning more meaningful. The findings indicate that the implementation of constructivist learning oriented toward deep learning has the potential to enhance students’ conceptual understanding of circles by promoting active engagement, critical thinking skills, and stronger conceptual connections. Therefore, this approach can serve as an effective alternative in mathematics instruction to support the development of deep and sustainable conceptual understanding.
